Crossing borders has never been easy, what if we live in a world where that also applies to physical borders? The Ministry of Sexual Affairs controls and regulates all kinds of sexual interactions within society. To ensure consensual and legal intercourse, citizens have to carry their personalised Sexpasses at any time and apply for Consent Visas in order to legitimate intercourse.
The project Sex control is an ironic approach questioning the concept of borders. Nowadays passports symbolise a crucial element of freedom, however many people are not being granted this basic right of free travel and have to suffer from the consequences. This project aims to illustrate the problem of borders and passports violating our privacy in an extreme way.
The work was demonstrated in a performance visualising the complicated act of applying for a Visa and being able to finally ‘cross borders’.
