Synopsis

A traveller finds himself drifting in a surreal and unfamiliar landscape, a place where language and culture are but a distant echo. Meeting other familiar and unfamiliar nomads on the way, they begin to form a sense of camaraderie in their shared search for something intangible, all bound by a common thread of displacement. Though they speak different tongues and hail from different lands, they all experience a sense of estrangement. The film contemplates the nature of self and the meaning of belonging in an ever-changing world, a world where identity is fluid and reality is but a fleeting illusion. Dépaysement is a oneiric short film that, through a dreamlike lens, explores a journey through the body and mind,  a journey where the boundaries of self and reality are blurred.
