Synopsis

Beer runs in our family, passed on like blood from body to body for 400 years. Its source—the Hebendanz brewery—is located 40 km from Nürnberg. I find myself retracing the tales of my paternal family. The video installation “das Bier in meinen Adern” acts as a catalog of local research, observations and questionings that entangles autobiographical experiences with the burden of a German heritage and the witch trials in Oberfranken. Confronted with the current rise of fascism and its alarming proximity to esotericism, I am researching what beer, witches and Nazis have to do with one another.
